One subject that causes the most controversy in dentistry today is the use of Amalgam (Mercury) Filling materials, although these have been used for many years here in the the UK. There is now a growing concern amongst consumers that the use of dental amalgam can cause problems in the body. Here at My Brilliant Smile Dental Centre we have chosen to become a completely amalgam free practice. We do not have or store any dental amalgam at the centre, we only use tooth coloured composite resin filling materials.
I first became aware of this controversy many years ago after reading some research papers from sweden that were pretty convincing. Since then numerous studies have been undertaken around the world and dental amalgam does now have a question mark around it. This video as far as we have been able to tell is not a spoof video, but a genuine attempt to show some facts.
Without wishing to add to that controversy all i would say is that we have modern tooth coloured resin materials that can be used, without a question mark surrounding them, hence we are a amalgam, mercury free, dental centre.
